We offer these links to environmental information for our members and their communities as part of our Green Sanctuary Program. The local geographical area includes Prince William and the adjacent counties of Fairfax, Fauquier, Loudoun, and Stafford in Virginia.

Dell Exchange

         Printer Cartridges
The Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative (NOVEC) recycles the cartridges. Recycling boxes are at the following NOVEC locations: Minnieville Road office, Gainesville office, and main office in Manassas on Lomond Drive. The cartridges are turned over to the Prince William Clean Community Council which gets $1 for each and uses the money for the organization's projects including its education programs and for cleaning up litter and graffiti.

The Center for a New American Dream helps Americans consume responsibly to protect the environment, enhance quality of life and promote social justice.  This link introduces the concept of green buying and provides surfing destinations for green products.

Green Seal is an independent, non-profit organization that strives to achieve a healthier and cleaner environment by identifying and promoting products and services that cause less toxic pollution and waste, conserve resources and habitats, and minimize global warming and ozone depletion.  This link is to green product recommendations.

ENVIRONMENTAL ORGANIZATIONS

Fairfax Audubon Society
helps communities in northern Virginia to experience nature and get involved in protecting birds, other wildlife and important habitats.

The Nature Conservancy of Virginia has protected more than 235,000 acres of critical natural lands in Virginia. While Virginia's biological diversity ranks in the top quarter of states, eight percent of the state's species are at risk of extinction.

The Virginia Chapter of the Sierra Club has four conservation priorities: Mattaponi/King William Reservoir, sprawl/smart growth, water quality, and air quality.  Solid waste and Virginia's forests are two active environmental issues.
