Building Use Committee (BUC)

- The Building Use Committee (BUC) oversees, and provides recommendations on allocation of space, rental and use agreements, proactive advertising and publicity about potential building use availability, and consideration of the sale of any buildings or properties of BRUU. Tasks include interfacing with other BRUU committees on building use issues and developing consistent best practices on the use and allocation of BRUU building resources.

Finance Committee

- The finance committee oversees, coordinates, supervises, generates and manages the financial resources of Bull Run Unitarian Universalists in a fiscally responsible manner. Tasks include monitoring the financial health and status of BRUU and to make finance related recommendations to the Board of Directors.
Fund Raising

- The Fundraising Committee raises capital for BRUU activities, well-being and solvency by designing, structuring, and conducting fundraising activities as directed by the Finance Committee and/or the Board of Directors. Tasks include creating, developing and implementing innovative methods of increasing and sustaining cash flow to BRUU.

- The Gifting Committee shall establish, implement and maintain guidance for the endowment fund, conduct appropriate reviews, and administer/oversee the fund according to the guidance.
Green Sanctuary

- The Green Sanctuary Committee builds awareness of societal environmental issues at BRUU at motivates its members to community action on these issues. Tasks include working toward an improved efficiency of energy both at BRUU and in the community, and providing practical information on energy and environmental practices at church and home.
Kitchen Renovation Committee

- This is a temporary committee intended to determine the amount of kitchen remodeling required to create a complete, commercial kitchen that would be most cost effective, as well as most appropriate and useful for BRUU.
Leadership Development Committee (LDC)

- The LDC ministers to the needs of the congregation by facilitating, organizing and inspiring the action of committees by serving as a means of connection between the needs of the congregation and the talents of its lay leaders. Tasks include identifying leadership needs and committee vacancies, identifying potential lay leaders for non-elected positions to committees, and working with the minister to sustain the congregation’s lay leadership.

Lifespan Religious Education Committee

- The RE Committee administers programs for all ages which provide opportunities for membership to grow and question in accordance with our philosophy. Tasks include aiding the Director of Religious Education in teacher recruitment and selection, review and implementation of the children's RE program, aiding in teacher training, and organizing and presenting special services and ceremonies.

- The maintenance and construction committee (MAC) provides and maintains the physical structure, security and systems of BRUU's facilities and activities. Tasks include performing maintenance, coordinating major structural and other projects, and developing and implementing a security plan.

- The Membership/Fellowship Committee greets visitors on Sunday mornings, sends materials to new members, organizes the Coffee Hour following services, and makes BRUU a warm and welcoming place.
Committee on Ministry

- The primary role of the Committee on Ministry is to oversee the health of and strengthen the quality of the professional and lay ministries of the Bull Run Unitarian Universalists (BRUU). Areas of responsibility include ministerial relations, ministering to the Minister, and monitoring and assessing the overall health of the BRUU ministries. Committee members can be nominated by either the Minister or the Board of Directors but must, in either case, be approved by both.
Music Liaison Committee

- The Music Liaison Committee (MLC) supports BRUU music programs and resources. Tasks include maintaining a list of musical resources within BRUU, acting as a counsel to the Music Director upon request, and advising on issues related to the music program.

Pastoral Care Committee

- The Pastoral Care Team is a lay ministry of trained individuals who offer spiritual support, guidance and hope in times of crisis. The Team will provide an organized response to the personal needs of the people of BRUU - in support of, and in conjunction with the Minister. When necessary, in the case of the absence of the Minister, the Team will function as the primary source of help and support.

- The Personnel Committee advises the Board of Directors on all personnel matters affecting professional and support staff. Tasks include developing salary and benefits packages for all staff, providing annual evaluations for each staff, and assisting in filling paid positions as needed.
Social Justice

- The Social Justice Committee identifies and gives expression to the social justice concerns of BRUU and its members. Tasks include fostering communication, education, advocacy and action on social justice issues among members of the congregation and in the community, identifying special social justice issues that would be appropriate for a congregational position and action, and promoting the congregational advocacy of these issues.

- The Stewardship Committee conducts the yearly and any special Pledge Campaigns. Tasks include requesting the congregation to make the financial commitments necessary to fund the programs, activities, and facilities of BRUU, presenting financial information to prospective members during membership classes, and fostering communications throughout the year between BRUU leadership and those who pledge financial support.

- The Welcoming Congregation celebrates and supports the lives, the relationships, and the individual and group contributions of its lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender members and friends. Tasks include clarifying and expanding the congregation's understanding of what it means to be a Welcoming Congregation, educating itself and the congregation on the issues in Prince William County, Northern Virginia, and the wider community which impact the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender members and friends of BRUU, and taking action on these issues.
